I have lived in Dallas for a year and some change now. I'm a new hygienist with a 5 year old son. I cant really say I have given Dallas a chance. I was here attending school so I never really had time to explore the city. I don't see many African Americans in Dallas mostly Hispanics mainly because I live in Irving. I was wondering where do the professional educated black men hang out in Dallas? Where should I live in Dallas to see diversity? I want to give Dallas a chance before bailing. But as of now I'm looking into moving to Houston in January. How is the dating scene in Houston and Dallas? As far as the job market both cites are neck to neck in Hygiene and pay. Please help me out I need feedback thanks.

Houston and Dallas proper both have about 25% black/African-American populations. Of course, these communities live in certain regions of the cities, therefore if you're not looking in the right place, you won't find them.

I think as far as what you're looking for in terms of dating and nightlife, both cities should do nicely for you. You may want to ask yourself about how close you'd like to be to the beach, other cities like New Orleans, or San Antonio though. These are closer to Houston.

But, I've heard on numerous accounts that Houston is/feels "blacker" than Dallas. I'm black, and when I visited Houstion, I DEFINITELY didn't feel out of place.
