Hello everyone, my name is Mason and I am very new to this forum. I am 15 years old and my Mother and I are looking for a place to live. My situation is a bit complicated, but here's an overview: my dad has custody of me but we're trying to switch it to my mom, my mom is homeless though, she also has no job, and we are not sure of how to apply to government aids. We're not even sure of which ones we can apply for. Anyways, I know that the people that are using this forum aren't just here to play 'Google' for me, but honestly I have done hours of futile research. If someone could please help me out, I would really appreciate it.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be a nice town with a nightlife.

- Must have job opportunities; for juveniles as well.

- Must be a safe neighborhood.

- Must have a nice apartments/townhouses available for rent with Section 8 vouchers.

- Must have very nice public education.

- Must also be within 100-150 miles of Houston-area.

For those of you that do help me out, thank you very much. I know that I may be over-optimistic, but I believe this is worth a shot. Thanks again.

Hello Mason,

I applaud your efforts to try and find a way to improve your situation for yourself and your Mom. Do you live in Houston? Tell us the general area where you live and we may be able to help you find resources in that area.

I suggest that you start near where you live to explore what assistance may be available in your area. You may already have some network of friends and relatives there. Moving may not solve the problems you are trying to address and may actually make it harder to get assistance in an area where you have not established residency. Moving takes money and it sounds like you are already struggling to get by where you live now. That can make it tough to move.

I good place to start might be with your school guidance counselors. They should have some knowledge of any groups or organizations in your area that might be able to assist you and your family.

Posting your questions above in a community forum such as the Houston forum may also get you better answers to your questions, as the people in that forum will know more about the area then those of us who frequent the Texas forum.

Give us more information and I will try to help. So will others on this forum I expect.

Best wishes...

Mason, I don't really know much about a condition such as yours but I am aware of a great organization in Houston that may at least have some good ideas or someone who will listen.

Contact the Houston City Wide Club of Clubs to see if they can help. I used to donate clothing to the shelter for battered women, that being how I learned of the organization. They also sponsor food banks, and holiday dinners for the less fortunate. They do a great deal more of which I'm not aware.

CITY WIDE CLUB provides serving the Greater Houston Metropolitan area including, Montgomery, Fort Bend, Chambers, Galbeston and Brazoria Counties with over 107 network chapters locally and nationally.

Good luck, stick with it
