International observers will descend on Texas to monitor the Nov. 6 general election, and the attorney general wants them to understand a clear message: We will be watching you.

“While it remains unclear exactly what your monitoring is intended to achieve, or precisely what tactics you will use to achieve the proposed monitoring, OSCE has stated publicly that it will visit polling stations on Election Day as part of its monitoring plan,” he wrote.

According to the letter, the organization met in April with groups that oppose voter ID legislation in Texas, including Project Vote, which tried unsuccessfully through legal challenges to halt five provisions that also affect voter registration in Texas.

The UN is a joke and has no reason to be involved in our elections. As usual my State makes me proud!

This cooperation has already been sanctioned by the State Dept and is required as part of our UN membership
The Attorney General of TX is just stupid and pandering to Tea Party luddites
he is probably afraid they will see election judges turning away legitimate voters in certain areas where being a Democrate might make a difference...
Abbott has shown he has neither the legal expertise/understanding or the ability to rise above politicization of issues...
this is all about posturing to a select percentage of voting public and press to create an image for him and Rick Perry's Texas...
too bad it is one that shows TX is narrow-minded and mean-spirited...

Well we have a partisan here in loves2read.

FYI the UN is useless and a complete waste of our money. We don’t need to let them observe anything since they will never kick us out because they need our funding.

This is just a further attempt of a liberal government attempting to push federal control over a state maintained practice. I'm with the Attorney General.

No U.N. observers

Like no one else here is a "partisan"???

if you don't have anything to hide why be so opposed to being observed?
Abbott is a clown who has cost the state of TX MILLIONS of dollars in ill-conceived legal maneuvers to further a political agenda that is shared by few outside his own mindscape and has certainly done very little to improve the lives of the average Texan...
he has done nothing to challenge big business like the insurance industry or go after companies that are polluting our environment...
he is a trog...

AG Abbot is a Republican, but he is not a dummy. He has a degree in finance from UT and a JD from Vanderbilt. UT is a Tier 1 public and Vanderbilt is a Tier 1 law school. And as a judge and lawyer Abbot was consistently ranked #1 for many years by his peers on both sides of the aisle.

Under the US Constitution the states set how elections will occur. State law specifies who may be at the polling place and what they may do. The Attorney General enforces the Law in the state and is fully within his rights to issue an opinion on this.

Second is the issue of Sovereign rights. Anyone who is a foreign national in the US is present at the pleasure of the Federal and State governments. There is no reason for a Foreign National to be at any US Polling place.

Third, the presence of "UN Observers" is a joke because countries that stone women to death are on the UN Human Rights council. The UN has zero Moral credibility on this.

The greatest threat to voting integrity right now are the people who engage in vote fraud.

At home here in TX Harris County had a major scandal two years ago.

Citizens Group Uncovers Massive Voter Fraud in Harris County | TexasSparkle | a Chron.com blog

Quote:
Most of the findings focused on a group called Houston Votes, a voter registration group headed by Steve Caddle, who also works for the Service Employees International Union. Among the findings were that only 1,793 of the 25,000 registrations the group submitted appeared to be valid.

It is now clear that the election of Al Franken was stolen due to vote fraud.

Was Al Franken elected by 1000 felons?

And in FL there are up to 250K dead or foreign people on the voter rolls.

And LBJ was shown to have stolen his election and used fraud to deliver TX for Kennedy.

Vote fraud is a mainly Democrat thing in the state.

There is a reason a lot of former Democrats are now GOP in the state of TX and it has to do with stuff like this.
