I just accepted a job at Goodfellow AFB, TX. I'm African American (AA) and I was wondering if there were any AA Beauty Shops there. I did a search online and turned up nothing.

I've been on the base (as active military and retired) since 1998. I am white, so I do not know of any such place out in town commercially, but there may be somewhere my (obvious) circles don't take me. I will ask some friends of mine and see if I can come up with anything.

Okay... just talked to a buddy of mine who said his wife has gone to a couple places here in town, they just aren't advertised well. He also said that in their community, there may some wifes, daughters, etc. who do that on the side.

Hi, I am an AA woman too. I used to live in San Angelo from fall 2010 to early 2011. There is one AA shop and the owner's name is Stephanie, it is also shared by a barber shop. She was pretty good as a stylist. I was too bored out there and I craved the big city, so I moved to Houston. Best of luck to you!
