Press Releases

Quote:
Today, the Houston-Galveston Area Council Transportation Policy Council (H-GAC TPC) approved $3.484 million of Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) dollars to expand bike sharing in Houston. The funding will enable the bike share program to increase three fold over the next 18 to 24 months, expanding from 29 stations to 100 stations and nearly 800 bikes when the phases are completed. The program will stretch from south of the Texas Medical Center to the north up into the Heights and from the west to Memorial Park to the Greater East End.

The expansion will also create the largest bike share program in Texas and the Southwest.

Historic Yale Street Bridge In The Heights To Be Rebuilt - 09-29-2015 : Houston Public Media new... Houston Public Media

The historic Yale Street Bridge in Houston will be replaced starting later this year. They better get started soon, this year is quickly running out.

Quote:
The Yale Street Bridge was built in 1931, decades before the southern end of the Heights became a busy shopping area. The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, but it's also been ranked as one of the worst bridges in Texas.

The Texas Transportation Commission has now awarded a $2.8 million dollar contract to build a new bridge. TxDOT expects to start construction late this year.

I'm in favor as long as they create great connectivity to their surrounding neighborhood. I think Reunion would work and the Design District, and Trinity Groves would make good candidates as well due to the fact that they have plenty of land that can be redeveloped for a stadium and surrounding projects. It would be great to see a major developer do to Reunion District what the AAC has done to Victory Park.

It would definitely be successful. The Mavs currently have more than 550 consecutive sold out games. They have sold out all their games since 2001 and currently hold the record for longest sellout streak in all major leagues. So yeah other local teams should really take a closer look at Dallas core.
