I lived in Livingston from 1986 to 1995 (when I left home to go to the Army). I came back for a 2 week visit back in 2008, that was the first time I had seen it since '95. It's changed some.

But how is it now, in 2011? I'm thinking of moving back, but maybe in nearby Houston instead, not sure yet. Thanks.

What kind of life do you want?If you answered Quiet, come on back. There's church and bingo for assembling. You want a nightlife with dancing(rock and roll) or activities move closer to Houston. If good quality medical services is a criteria,Houston. If you want low crime rate ,Livingston.I moved here from the North(a yankee i am called) back in Feb. and still getting my feet wet .The drought isn't helping much.

Scenery wise, East Texas is much the same as back then. Attitude-wise, it's less peaceful. Lots of narrowminded bickering about politics and stupid stuff like that. I guess people can't focus on the down-to-earth traditional quiet American values any more. Too much cable TV mind pollution now entering homes and influencing people;whipping them up into an unfocused and unproductive clamor.

Yeah, I thought so, these days over there. Because the mindset was so different, the last time I was there, in 2008. I remembered when most of the women didn't wear much, hardly any makeup, wore shorts, and tank tops (just very casual and comfortable life back then). But when I went back in 2008 it's like most of them were heavy on the makeup, the hair all overbleached, and capri shorts with heels...Didn't look comfortable anymore. It was getting too high class for my taste anymore.
