We currently live in Illinois in a small town of about 9000. My husband is being transferred to Hurst. We have not gotten the opportunity to visit the area, and have never been to Texas. We have a two year old daughter, so we are looking for a family oriented area, with some cultural diversity, and good schools. We would like to find a house for 200,000 or preferably less. We're willing to drive up to 40 minutes to get to Hurst. Any suggestions or direction?

You might try posting on the Ft Worth sub forum. Hurst is really just suburb of of Fort Worth.

Hurst itself is a great place to live and it fits all of your criteria. There's no need to drive that far in NE Tarrant County! HEB ISD schools are well regarded (Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD), and there are lots of different cultures in the area. There are plenty of houses in the $200k price range, too. Hurst has the Northeast Mall and surrounding retail areas, which keeps property taxes lower than other cities in the area.

Good luck with your move!!
