Have you ever stayed at a Red Roof Inn? I have never been to the one in JC but I spend a month at one in Atlanta when I had to be there for business. Red Roof Inns are okay if all you want is a bed for the night and a place to shower in the morning; they are not places where you would want to spend any length of time. I wouldn't even stay at one for a week again.

Red face Alleycat Thanks!!

Jeez I'm So Confused,
Just trying to visit check out towns and are on an awfully tight budget to do this.
I am visiting Mooresville NC and then traveling to JC .
I was even thinking about a half way area to get a cheap cottage or extended stay which I havent had luck with to cook a few meals, whatever.
Don't know any campgrounds that may have cheap cottages we arent fussy.
Any Suggestions?????
Thanks , Terry

Well, if you're mostly going to be out and about, then Red Roof or any of the other cheaper motels would be alright. I'm sure there's some in JC (I'm not from that area, so I don't have any information). Most of the ones I've been to are not particularly comfortable . . . in other words, it's not much fun to actually spend time there. The Red Roof Inn I stayed at was clean enough, had a nice big bed, and the maid service was okay . . . but it didn't even have an upholstered chair and the TV wasn't cable, it was some kind of antenna (as I recall, it would only pick up three or four channels).

Anything would probably be alright for a few days. You could stay at a cheap motel and eat at one of the fast food places.

Actually the Red Roof Inn in JC is rather nice. Yes, there are no frills, but it is clean, safe, and decent. There are plenty of places near by to eat as it is basically right across the street from the mall. Right next door is Ryan's and at the other ed of the parking lot is an O'Charlies. There is a few sub places, McDonald's and other things as well. It is on the edge of one of the main shopping areas of JC. Check if they have microwaves in the rooms. There is a Food City grocery store a block away.
Hope that helps

Default I stayed there recently....

I stayed there twice in the past month. The rates were very cheap, I paid $49.00 with my AAA (they didn't even ask to see my AAA card, I think the regular price was $59), I also had two dogs with me, which they didn't charge me for. I felt very safe there, and my rooms were always very clean. I always take my own towels and sheets when I travel but I did notice that the ones provided in the rooms were very clean as well. I loved that there were a couple nice restaurants, Target and Pier one right in the same "lot". There is also of other stuff right nearby. I was also looking at other towns in the area so I felt like I was in an almost perfect location to do so. There was cable, HBO, CNN etc. and they offer internet for $10 bucks a night, we got it for two nights and were still just charged $10. I agree with alleycat that it is a good place just to sleep and shower, there is no pool, spa, etc. I think it is good for anyone who wants to see the sites of the area and not lounge around at a hotel bar or pool. The people working there were extremely nice as well so I would definitely recommend it!

I've never stayed there so I can't comment on the quality, but I wanted to echo some of the other things said plus add some breakfast ideas. The location is great as far as accessing the "city" and all of its shopping and whatnot. It is right off North Roan Street. Shoney's is in the same shopping area (you can just walk from the Red Roof Inn to Shoney's, O'Charlies, Target, Books-A-Million, as well as some other stores) and is the only one I know of that serves breakfast. But like mbmouse said, McDonald's is across the street in front of the mall if you feel like doing that. There is also a Starbucks right up the road if you are a coffee person.

They are right in town. There is a Lonestar Restaurant/the JC mall is across the way also. If you have more to spend-there is also a Doubletree Hotel.
