Hello! I just stumbled upon this site. My husband has accepted a job down in Oak Ridge and so we are going to be relocating there. I hear great things about the area....though I haven't even visited it yet. Now I have a job search ahead of me. Ah well. I just wanted to say hi and now I'll try and read through some posts as it looks like there is a lot of good information!

Heidi

Think I've found a job in Knoxville. We'll be coming down to Oak Ridge on Friday the 23rd to house hunt and preschool hunt. haha I'm looking forward to coming down to the area for the first time!

Any better areas to house hunt in Oak Ridge? We'd like at least a 3 bedroom and maybe a four bedroom. Has to have a good yard for our son to play in. It doesn't have to be new...I'd prefer not to be right on top of our neighbors (where we live now I can look out my bedroom window and see into my neighbor's house and vice versa). We'd like to stay in around the $150k or less range. Is that possible? I hear cost of living and housing is much cheaper in TN then it is here in south central Indiana.

Hi,

From just a quick look I can see there are quite a few houses in Oak Ridge in your price range.

Your best bet, if you're coming next week, is to get hooked up with a realtor now and get your viewing appointments made. To wait until you get here will take up a lot of your time.

Give the realtor all the druthers you posted and have him/her narrow it down. They can email you the particulars on houses available and get them lined up for you to look at.

I really don't have anyone to recommend for you. Perhaps someone else can jump in with a good agent.

Good luck!
