Hi everyone.

I am currently in Chicago and I think I decided today that when my lease is up in November, I will be moving to Tampa/St. Pete area to start my new life. I love the sun, I love the beach. I am sick of the crooked mayor, high taxes/prices, all the traffic and the hustle and bustle and jaded unhumble hott chicks of the big city who thinks they deserve the world. I love chicago, its a great city and its been great to me but I have been here almost 15 years and ready to move on unfortunately...I can't believe I am saying this but I am ready to move to a smaller/less stressful/boring city.

I am def. ready to slow my roll, my pace of life/settle down and try to improve upon my quality of life, which means more sun and fun and beach and relaxing. Instead of moving to suburbs of Chicago, I'd like to move to st. pete/tampa area. I stayed in st. pete for couple weeks last september and drove around alot and got to see everything in the area even driving down to Sarasota. It was great and I feel Tampa/St. Pete has what I am looking for. Previously, I have held off on moving to another city until I find a job first but I think this time, I am going to bite the bullet and just pack up my stuff and move w/ my savings. Otherwise, I'll be stuck here for rest of my life. One good thing I have going for me is that I am used high cost of living so I don't believe I will be complaining too much about Tampa being too expensive. I am not sure if I'll ever buy a house in my lifetime so I am not worried about buying a home.

I have previously worked with Property and Casualty Insurance companies and brokers as broker assistant and underwriting assistant. How is the current job market there in Tampa area with regards to commercial insurance?

Any comments or advice good or bad would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

y, thanks I know I will love it there as I love the beach and the sun. Most office jobs are located in downtown TB, correct? do people commute from downtown St. Pete to downtown TB to go to work?

I just moved here a little over a week ago from Northwest Indiana. I did exactly what you're going to do in Nov: bit the bullet and left without a job. Sick of the cold, sick of rude Chicago people invading our beaches in the summer, just sick of everything. So, for as many people who are bound to tell you you're an idiot for moving with nothing but your savings and no job lined up, I say go for it! You only live once right?

Well, I probably used to be one of those rude chicago people but then I grew up, although I'd never be caught dead in Indiana.

I am also sick of cold mainly, gets worse as I get older, quality of life seems to have gone downhill for me here. I am sick of everything as well. Normally, I'd not even think about moving w/o a job lined up because I just don't do stuff like that but I am starting to hate it here. Not a great place to age. I recently stopped nightclubbing and realized that this place really sucks in the winter unless you are constantly nightclubbing. It is soooo cold out I don't even want to go outside to my car to grab something out of the car, let alone go to movies, etc...I just want some peace and quite and relaxed and laidback lifestyle now.

So where are you? how are you liking it so far? Are you concerned about not finding a job?

Please share with the rest of us where these jobs are. When I lost mine and was searching for a year and a half for even a job flipping burgers, I REALLY could've used that info.
