I am thinking of having my house build on a lot that I just purchased in the polk county. I have heard a number of different things about some of the home builders.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Any info will help. Thank you

We had our house built by US Homes. The house itself is fine. They only had one model that we really liked and once the house was built, we found a lot of things that needed to be fixed. The company is great about getting things fixed even when it wasn't the fault of the home builder.

I'm not sure where you're looking, but Alexander Custom Homes builds some great homes too.

Ernie White has good reputation in polk county. He builds on your lot I think.

We have had 3 homes built in subs , Mercedes, -I would not recommend.
Chandler Park Homes they were fine, Bowen Family Homes was fine.
Our next home will be a Highland Home. YOu will be glad you are building in polk county, We love the low taxes and ho insurance. and price of homes are lot better than surrounding counties.

I would have to agree with Mercedes Homes as being an inferior home builder. My aunt's house was built by them. Her three year old home already has cracked tiles the length of my legs and some of the doors are a bit too tight; you need to push them a little because they are literally rubbing on the frame. The soap holder in the bathroom was also improperly installed. You can't even put soap there because it slides down towards the tub every single time.

No to Mercedes yes to Holiday. We are selling our Holiday Home, not because there's anything wrong with it but because we got transferred back further south. Anyway, if we build again it will be either a Levitt Home or a Holiday Builders Home. Both were great.
