If you owned and lived a relaxed upper middle class life from Madeira to Clearwater Beach but had a chance to live on or near the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, would you relocate?

Let me ask it like this also. If you had the opportunity to relocate from a middle upper class life in Lauderdale to coastal St. Pete, would you move?

Mid 50s, single, childless. Financially stable.

Things to consider.

Traffic. Over-population. Unchecked growth. Illegals. Stress.

Literally everything you state is present in nearly every area of FL. Most concerning though is your descriptor, "Illegals". Really?? SMH.

The air quality is better on the Atlantic side. The air quality on the gulf side is not as good. However the gulf side has less stress, people, traffic. But even on the gulf side, shenanigans abound. Defecation, sex, parties oh my!

South Florida is slowly becoming almost like a third world country.

Bubbles exist in certain areas yes, but .....

As a native Floridian who lived in Broward for years and now resides in Pinellas county, I have to agree. Both St Pete and Ft Laud are expensive and pay crappy wages, both are somewhat progressive, both have wonderful medical facilities and everything you could need nearby, but Pinellas is more relaxed.

I do think the water here is of poor quality.

I was just there 2 weeks ago and the water clarity on Belleair Beach was a beautiful caribbean blue color. It was amazing the water clarity on the beach and intercoastal. On the contrary the ocean in Fort Lauderdale is light green but never blue.
