Hello,
I am 37 years old, single lady and I am seriously considering moving to Tampa. I work in the mortgage industry and my company has an office in Tampa. I don't know anybody who lives in Tampa. How is the social life there? Is it easy to make new friends?

I like going to the beach and to bars. I also enjoy going to sporting events.

Sounds like this is the place for you. We have all of that. Just remember it gets pretty hot here 9 out of the 12 months and people tend to get tired from that. Some people say that it's difficult to find friends here since it's an area filled w/ transplants and not much a sense of community. It really depends on your personality. If you're shy, introverted - might be difficult. There are several threads about how people meet others (Meetup.com, fitness groups, running, biking, kayaking groups, church, work).

More of a working downtown. Downtown st Pete seems to have a better scene. This is where I have seen older 30 singles. I would suggest some of the meetup.com sites. The young professionals seems to have a lot of singles and events. From what I have seen, I think South Florida might be a good choice if you can handle that culture and higher cost of living.

As with many other sprawled out cities, Tampa is a good place to meet people if you put the effort in. Sounds like you won't have a problem. Good luck.

As a single 36 year old guy who leans more towards the introverted side, I was able to make some great friends down here. I moved down from Ohio about 4 years ago and I love it. I highly recommend downtown St. Pete.

Tampa is a great city. Seminole Heights will have your eccentric bars, restaurants, and breweries while also putting you close to 275 to get to Pinellas beaches. Downtown Tampa will put you close to Ybor and Channelside will be taking off over the next few years. It also puts you close to Seminole Heights.
