We are interested in Cory Lake Isles subdivision, but looks like Wharton High School is not the best of high schools. Does anybody have any information on private schools in the area or any additional information about Wharton? Thanks!

My husband and I were online today looking at rentals as we will be there next week to find something and I found one I really liked. Problem was it was Wharton High district and I have read nothing good about that school. We are looking at WireGrass Ranch High area. Good luck, ill be curious to see posts from those who have hands on with this school.

Not the OP but I heard the same thing from several sources, greatschools.com, other posters, and several people I know from the area. We will be there next week to get a rental and I am looking in the districts of Land O Lakes High, Wesley Chapel High, and Wiregrass High.

I actually met a girl here in NC yesterday that just moved here from Tampa (her husband it a Marine and they got stationed here) She went to Wesley Chapel High and I asked her about Wharton High and she strongly discouraged it. She recommended Wiregrass Ranch, Land O Lakes High, and Wesley Chapel High. Im hoping when we get down there next week to find a rental I can get some better information from the rental agency. If I find anything more Ill be sure to pass it on to you.

I just posted to another posting regarding Cory Lake Isles. I would recommend finding another subdivision. It has too many problems that would be very costly for you, even though you are renting, the owner may pass along some of the cost to you. You can ask your realtor about flooding in Cory Lake Isles, because I have heard that is an issue there. The lakes are all man made, and it was done without permission.
As far as schools, my kids go to Freedom High School (just south of I-75 in The Tampa Palms area. It is okay. I hear Wharton is slightly better.
Land O' Lakes is the number one high school in Pasco County. It also has an IB program if your child qualifies.
If you are looking at Land O' Lakes high school, you may want to check out Wilderness Lakes Preserve, which is right across from the high school.

Thanks for all the great information. We are hoping for a reasonable commute to Tampa (30-45 minutes) and if we don't end up by the gulf, we would really like to be on a lake that we could have jet skis.
