MHO below
1. Not too good if east of FL
2. Iffy neighborhood.. I would be leary of that area
3. May not be too bad.
4. Mostly older homes but could be OK.

What is your price range?

I agree with Keeper - I would rule out #1 and #2, and research further into #3, and #4 areas you mentioned. STAY AWAY FROM EAST OF FLORIDA! Please, take it from a native, you don't want to live there.

Not sure of the boundaries of Riverside Heights, but it is kind of between old West Tampa and Seminole Heights. Basically on the river, and further west and south of Seminole Heights. This would be my top pick if I had to live in the inner core of Tampa (excluding South Tampa). I am thinking maybe Columbus Drive might be the southern boundary, and possibly the river to the west. Not sure of the others, though.

The other benefit of Riverside Heights, is that if you are close to Columbus Drive, you can take this road out which becomes Boy Scout Blvd. and go right over the causeway, avoiding the interstate.

Good luck!

I have to agree with the above regarding your choices mentioned.

Riverside Heights Boundaries-
W. MLK Jr., Boulevard to the North
N. Boulevard to the East
W. Columbus Drive to the South
Hillsborough River to the West

Use this link to see all of the city of Tampa's neighborhoods:

Any reason why you are not looking South of Kennedy Blvd? There are so many single family homes for rent, and it would be very convienient.

Riverside heights is not real big area runs into Seminole Heights and Tampa Heights/Ybor city. I wouldn't go further than east than N. Blvd off Columbus..
I lived in a house on the river as a roommate once upon a time near Columbus.
You should be able to find a place in Seminole Heights or South Tampa. There are people who have garage apts in seminole heights.. South Tampa is a great place to live if you are young and single.

Personally I love Seminole Heights, but you have to watch it since it is close to MLK and all of that.

I know that you stated that you wanted to rent, but right now there are some fantastic buying opportunities on town homes and condos in Clearwater, Safety Harbor and the East Lake area. You get the advantage of a great location plus the ability to get a property in one of these areas at historically low prices.
