I'm still trying to figure out why someone would suggest routes that will add a lot of time to the daily roundtrip commute to save a dollar in tolls each way. In fact, the extra gas you would burn at stop lights will negate any savings.

Take the Veterans/275 to either Westshore/Gandy or Dale Mabry south to MacDill.

Well you can always take Dale Mabry down but that will cost you time. Where "north" are you trying to go to McDill from?

Taking Veterans from Lutz to 275 takes 2 toll plaza's. From Land O Lakes, Lutz, Odessa you can take Dale Mabry to Bearss to 275 free...then exit at Dale Mabry again...not a good route IMO.

The easiest way from Lutz, Land O Lakes, Citrus Park, Trinity, Odessa, is Veterans to 275 to Dale Mabry...sadly.

The OP is coming from Westchase/Citrus Park. Most people I know travel South on Sheldon, continue Southeast on Memorial, take the short cut on Independence to Veterans(no toll at this point), turn South on West Chase. 42 minutes.

All right turns, several traffic lights, horrible between 7am and 8:15 am. Expect 42 minutes to become 57 minutes to an hour.

The toll on Veterans just went up. It will cost you $4 per day round trip, about the cost of a gallon of gas. Most cars will drink up half of that in the traffic / traffic lights. So the discussion is kinda moot over $2/day or $44/month in savings. The OP is probably pay close to $90 per month in tolls.

You are talking like you are not going to sit in the toll booths for 20 min, and go from stop and go traffic to 25 mph on the highway on rush hour.

I don't use frequently, thank God, but veterans at peak hour for the portion that the OP is looking is pretty much useless, waste of money.

I agree.

From West Chase he can avoid it, it won't be any faster...but can be avoided.
He can take Linebaugh to Dale Mabry too...depending how deep into Westchase they are.
