Is $80 average for a water bill in Pasco county? I was shocked when we got our first bill but the water dept claims this is normal. Our bill in Colorado was only like $25 a month so i was a little suprised. Of course I realize it will be different from state to state, or heck even county to county sometimes. But sheesh i was hoping it would stay low! lol On a good note though my electric bill was less than i thought it would be. Might be because i have gas for hot water though. Who knows, i'm so ready to get some regular bills so I can get a set budget!

That seems really high. Granted, i'm in Hills, but mine is only around 25 a month and that includes a once a week lawn watering plus we cloth diaper, so that's an extra 2-3 loads of laundry a week too.

Call or visit the utility and ask for a breakdown of the charges.
Find out what the real cost of the water is and use that part of the bill to really compare month to month usage.

Yea our 1st bill they didn't read the meter, they just sent a bill for $40 and when my husband called they said "average" useage will run about $80 a month. I was like WTF? lol Seems VERY unprofessional but I wasn't sure if this was the norm or not since we just moved here. I better call them and inquire, i'm much more insistent of knowing exactly what I'm being billed for then my husband is.

Are you with FGUA or Pasco Utilities? FGUA is one of the biggest overchargers for water and utilities out there. My water bill through Pasco Utilities is routinely $25-$48 a month....and that's with two people in a 3br/2ba, dishwasher run every couple days, laundry twice a week, and multiple showers daily- no pool and usually moderate sprinklers during dry weeks. Check your sprinkler system- make sure your stations are set up for MINIMAL watering times and you're watering once a week. Sprinklers are the largest culprit of unnecessary water consumption...especially with the rain we have been having lately.
FGUA's customer service is terrible, and if you have them, be prepared to pay more for less.

We have Pasco Co utilities...what ircks me most is the reading says "previous 100000", "current 101000", "water consumption in gallons = 1000"....WELL, when my husband went to read the meter outside it said 58000......something doesn't add up! Guess they are pulling numbers out of their hat or something. How can they charge me when they didn't even read the meter. And unless my meter moves backwards how can they say it started on 100000 when it clearly is only on 58000? So confused....lol

I only pay around $18 for my water bill in west Pasco, just across US19 and some areas pay over $80 a month for black water.

I pay between 60 to 90 and $80 is OK. AND I have a reclaimed water. Check the fixed capital cost. People like to through numbers around without checking the fixed cost.

For example, if I use zero, I repeat zero water I would still pay about $30, OK?

Also, it is not unusal that they read once in two month or so.

What you need to know is actually how much gallons you consume. The average around Tampa Bay or at least the one official use is 8000 gal/month. FYI we never exceed 7000 gal/month and I still pay the number that I quote above.

Having said that. Check if the have the right number. They may compensate the next month.

Good luck.
