May 1st, 2011: Receive a letter today from Liberty Mutual Florida stating that we are being DROPPED - our home owners insurance policy has been cancelled - as of our forthcoming renewal date of Nov 2011.

I've been with Liberty Mutual of Florida for 15 years; from my first townhome, then converted to an apartment/fire policy, then converted to a homeowners policy .. now that I have a wife and 2 young children to protect in this regard.

In all of the 15 years, I have not once submitted a claim. I have, however, dealt with their oftentimes very significant increases in policy premiums; especially over the last 5 years.

What an absolute shame and disgrace, Liberty Mutual. The letter offers their "apology for any inconvenience". Inconvenience? What an understatement. Moderator cut: language

Sorry you've been informed. This comes as a surprise? So many thousands of us have been dropped from companies since -04 we don't even count on them anymore. Worst scenario now is Citizens is dropping which is making getting homeowners insurance a nightmare. I know, I'm trying to buy a house even with 40% down, no luck thanks to the insurance companies.

We are moving down as soon as we sell our home in NJ. We will pay cash for a home in Florida. However, now I wonder how the heck you get insurance down there if all these companies are bailing on the state. Any words of advice?

If they stop writing home policies they should not be allowed to write auto policies!

That's exactly right, but the politicians are bought and paid for my the insurance lobbyists.

I'm pretty sure USAA is for former military only, not all government employees.

That is incorrect. All current and former federal government workers (which the military also falls under) qualify for USAA. City and state government do not.
