I am from Flint, Michigan. I moved to Tampa in March 07 and then after a couple years I decided to pack up my son and I and move back to Michigan. WOW! What a mistake that was. I hated Michigan when I left the first time but I was home sick and missed having my family around me. Well it is awful and live is worse here than it was ever in Tampa. So now my son is a bit older and I want out of here. I am thinking about coming back to Tampa/Clearwater area. I remember many things and the areas, but I would still love any tips, pointer or advice! I really need to know about schools. My son will be starting kindergarten next fall so this very important!!

Tip #1
Throw away all but one half decent coat. Hop in the car. Head south.

Its nice to see a post from someone saying something nice about Tampa for a change. The grass isn't always greener on the other side - especially the snow ridden side! Happy planning and welcome back to florida soon!

As for schools, I'd start doing some research on school rating sites and perhaps Hillsborough County Schools site as well. I've done the MI-FL relocate 4 times now and it's expensive and labor intensive, keep that in mind.

What is it you hate about MI so much? There are places in MI doing far better than Flint e.g. Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids.

exactly. how will u earn a sufficient living in tampa now and in the future? generally speaking, this place is an economic wasteland and one of the worst places a young person with or without kids looking to build a career could ever move to. there are tons of better options for you if making a living and providing for your family are important

I think you need to open your wishes to other areas.

Everything would be based on a job and schools with location being around those two things.

Open yourself up to other areas of Florida so you can have a larger variety of jobs.
