Hey All,

I hope someone has some info.

Got a family member that is moving to Tampa suddenly
and they need an apartment, but don't have enough for
the sec deposit plus furniture/first mo rent etc...

I was thinking about those apartments that are furnished
and include utilities/cable and charge by the week $150-200.

Does anyone have any thoughts/tips/recommendations?

I wouldn't recommend that kind of housing. It's quite expensive, $600-$800 per month is a lot for someone without enough money for a security deposit. They're not usually in the best part of town and can have a seedy resident base.

I'd recommend finding a roommate via Craigslist, which and I many others I know have done successfully over the years. It's also an excellent way to make a new friend(s) in a new city and much more cost effective than any other avenue. In this economy many normal/average people are renting out rooms in their house or condo to help make ends meet. Many are furnished and come with low deposits. There are some nice people out there who will work with you on the deposit as well from my own past experiences. As an FYI a quick look on Craigslist turned up some nice shares in various South Tampa neighborhoods as well as Carrollwood in the $450 a month price range.
