Hi! I'm considering purchasing investment property in Syracuse North Side. Can someone give me a good education on the north side? good target areas? and etc...?
Can't tell you too much. The north side is bounded to it's north by the new baseball stadium, and to it's NE by the newly to be expanded Carousel Mall. It had traditionally been an Italian area in the past. It's somewhat seedy, houses in disrepair, and close together in general. That's all I know.
I'd like to see some improvements in the housing stock in that area if that's your intention.
My family lived on the North Side when they first came to the U.S. a generation ago. From what I've seen, the neighbourhood is being revived in some places, like the Little Italy area, but it's really seedy in other locales, like parts of Lodi Street. Choose carefully, and it could be a good investment. Many of the properties that are the cheapest also need exstensive renovations (some have been vacant for decades), so keep that in mind.
Thanks -- I appreciate your input. Can you tell me which part of the Northside are the "better" parts to invest in potentially?
Many Thanks Again, Annie
Eastwood and the area near Assumption Cemetery are probably the nicest areas outside of Sedgwick. Though, I'm no expert on the city neighborhoods.
Coming from the suburbs, most of the city looks seedy to me....
