My husband was taking Glucosamine Sulfate - Chondroitin in tablet form for joint pain - it actually helped after about 2 or 3 weeks - but it also seemed to cause a rise in Blood Pressure. His regular doctor said that the Glucosamine Sulfate - Chondroitin tablets have a high sodium content and THAT was causing the rise in Blood Pressure.

Does anyone know if a liquid form of the Glucosamine Sulfate - Chondroitin supplement would avoid this issue?

Can anyone suggest an alternative?

Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions

Well, you're welcome!! Oh wait, did'nt offer any suggestions yet! Ok, lets see. Some alternatives. Well, from what I'm readin and from the relief i've given these old bones of mine, I'm suggesting good 'ol organic apple cider vinegar. Not the distilled clear kind but the one that has the ugly, brownish, murky looking stuff settled at the bottom of the jar! Couple tablespoons in a cup of warm water 2 or 3 time a day just may work wonders!! And ya might want to try a flax seed oil supplement. And I'm hearing and readin some real good stuff about turmeric in your daily diet. And also ya might wanna give carrot juice a shot. Two or three times a day, been known to help alot(works on these old bones). And it's good for immunity also. A toast to real relief! Where did i put my vinegar??

Carrot juice for joint health? Never heard of that - will look into it. Still trying to find out if the liquid Glucosamine Sulfate - Chondroitin in the new bottled water forms would have less sodium.

Thanks for your reply

It's possible the one he is taking is high in sodium, but you don't know for sure until you read the label. The one I take has 100mg of sodium per 2 tablets (one daily dose). That is not a lot of sodium. My blood pressure is in the healthy range.

Is it ok to say the brand? I know he would rather take a couple tablets than worry about carrying around a bottle of vinegar

I recommend only USP certified products. Just check the label for sodium content.
