As long as the dose is not too high. It's a fat soluable vitamin so it can store in your body and you can overdose on it. With too much your hair can fall out and your skin turns a big yellowish.

You don't need much Vit. E--are you deficient in it? Is that why you're taking it?

No, someone in one of these forums was taking it for Seasonal Affective Disorder, {the result of shorter days and lack of sun} and I think I have been suffering of that too, so I began to take it. I take 400 mgs. daily.

If it does work for SAD i've never heard that before as i myself suffer from SAD (I hate winter and overcast) and have researched what to take to help me. I always take 800 i.u. daily.

Vitamin E comes in different forms as it's usually Alpha Tocopherol as we are learning we need it in all it's forms sold as ''Mixed Tocopherols'' which is the Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Gamma forms of tocopherol as they work together for better effectiveness.

In foods it's highest in in Wheat Germ, Soy, Olive Oil and Avacados.

If you have SAD and even if you don't Vitamin D is what you need!

I have been taking 1000 iu's of vit. E for a few years now with no problems. My Dr. recommended it to help with leg cramps which I must say it was a miracle because no more leg cramps. I take one a day. I was getting horrible leg cramps for years to the point of tears and once I started taking the Vit E in this dose the cramps disappeared.

That's what I was thinking! Super B complex would be beneficial for that condition also.

You gotta be careful with the dosage. Keep in mind that vitamin-e.info is naturally found in the food such as Corn-oil. therefore, unless prescribed by a medical doctor, I wouldn't take them. Only consider the damages that you can get when the amount of vitamin-e is far above of its normal ratio of your body; the consequences could be irreversible...

Gamma E is what you want to buy, something like this from Jarrow

"contains all 8 members of the vitamin E family. These “Toco’s”—4 forms of tocopherol and 4 of tocotrienol"

Taking just d-alpha E(many multivitamins) depletes the other forms of E.

If taking fish oil, vitamin E keeps it from oxidizing in us. Fish oil will start to use up your E if you dont have a food source.

A good all in one is Life Extensions health booster which has gamma E, K2, lutein, zeaxanthin, and lycopene as a nice combo pill.
