ugh. flying will take just as long when you count parking, driving, waiting...and a possibly cancelled flight it could take even longer.

I would just drive, its only 4-5 hours, the train is also an option. There is a ton of stuff to do, but first, what kind of stuff are you looking for? Do you have children with you or are you looking for nightlife, shows, etc?

Neither. MegaBus leaves Union Station three times a day and fares run between $1 and $10 dollars. The buses are comfortable and more likely to arrive on time than Amtrak.

Depends where you're going to stay. If you're staying in a downtown hotel, having a car is rather pointless and paying to park it will probably eat up any savings you get from driving.

If you're staying outside downtown or one of a few other neighborhoods, I'd drive as a car will be useful.

As far as suggestions for what to do, we'd need to know what you like to do. When are you coming?

Definitely drive.

Check out the various neighborhoods/districts - Washington Avenue downtown, Central West End, Lafayette Square, Soulard, Delmar Loop.
