The city is so diverse and complex and full of character. I understand if people with families want to live in suburbs, but I think they're missing out on a neighborhood and neighbors of various backgrounds. They're missing out on the chance to be closer to everything.

I have never lived in the city, but it would be nice to eventually. I'm living at home with Mom and Dad in a small town 3 hours from St. Louis. My Dad grew up in St. Louis, but that was 40 years ago. Someday I would like to live in a place that doesn't shut down at 9 p.m.

That's my reason for wanting to live in a suburb (but not subdivision) - I can guy an acre of land, and build the exact house I design. It definitely won't look like my neighbors. I *love* the design of the house at 9 Hortense Place in CWE. I don't need 8+k sq ft, but I'd like to build a house that has very similar style. I'm big on outdoor activities, and most yards within city limits are too small for my needs.

^ People buy plots of land in the city and build homes. But yeah, you're right, PLEASE go to the suburbs if you want a sprawling 3000 sq ft home with a 2 car attached garage. No urban enthusiast wants that in their neighborhood.
