Hello,
Everyone was very helpful on here with my previous question so I figured I'd give it another go round!

I am moving to the St. Louis area in August for a job at Lindenwood University in St. Charles. Preferably I will find a private condo/townhouse/double rental but I need a back up just in case nothing happens to materialize on craigslist, padmapper, or hot pads (let me know if you are aware of good local sites too please).

I am relatively certain I want to live West of St. Louis towards St. Charles i.e Creve Coeur ish, maybe Maryland Heights, Olivette, or anywhere in between at least for my first year, and then move to U City or the like (ie a better place for a single in her 30s) after having time to actually explore the area and neighborhoods, assess commuting from different locations, etc..

Does anyone know of some decent apt complexes? I don't want to throw money away on rent so I'm thinking a 2 bedroom (don't care how small) in a convenient location, washer/dryer or at least hookups in unit, safe area, dishwasher, central AC etc.. Essentially I just need the basics, but nice in a safe area close to highways/shopping. I don't want to spend more than 1000 per month including electric/gas.

Any insight re websites to search for rentals, rental review sites, specific apartment complex feedback, etc.. etc.. is appreciated. Thanks so much!

The neighborhoods around and Lindenwood and toward the river are actually pretty nice. It depends on what you want, but if you want something more citylike, as weird as it sounds to say this, the City of Saint Charles will be better than Olivette, Maryland Heights, etc, though it will take longer to get into STL/U-City. The old part is pretty walkable, and there are often houses and duplexes for rent in the parts built before 1950 - just look up 63301 and make sure the address is in the parts of town with gridded streets. The downtown and riverfront and parks system are surprisingly nice. If I were you, I would either rent there, or in U-City. Both will be more vibrant than Maryland Heights and surrounding areas.

I just PM'd you the name of the apartments I used to live in in Maryland Heights. They were awesome- wonderfully maintained, great staff and super convenient location!
