Hello,
I got a new job close to Maryland Heights, the office building is right next to where I-270 and Page Ave. cross.

I have a family with 2 very young kids (2 & 4).
What places would you recommend for me to rent an apartment for 1 year before I start looking for a house.
I can afford up to around $800 a month.
I don't mind driving up to 1/2 hour if the place is nice.

I'm going to go to St.Louis from Oct. 6th until Oct. 14th to look at apartments.
Thanks for the help.

If you are willing to drive up to 30 minutes, you have several choices.

anything South on 270 to say Hwy44 would cover your 30 minutes. Anything West to and including Chesterfield, East to and including Clayton. ......all of which are nice burbs.....

There will be many places in these areas.

Where in Clayton can you live anywhere half way decent for less than $800?

There are at least a half dozen great apartment complexes within five minutes west from your office building in a fantastic location for your family. Sorry, I don't know all the current names of the complexes but there is West Pointe Apartments (the closest) at Bennington & Page. The Pavilion next the them at Bennington and Marine. Then down Bennington about a mile after it turns into McKelvey, there are three others(near the intersection of Dorsett & McKelvey). One is Pheasant Run. All of these are only 1-2 miles from Creve Coeur Park, great schools (not that you care with kids that young) and great day care centers too. I think you can get an apartment in your price range at any of these, and you will like it.

You are quite welcome. If nobody from the place your going to work at knows the names of the places, I can go write them down for you. I go to Creve Coeur Park every evening and walk around the lake. It wouldn't be any problem to take a little ride around and find out the names.

It's ok, I found all of them in forrent . com
I actually went in "apartmentrating.com" and they show a map with apartments in the area.
I printed the map with about 18 apartment complexes around I-270 & Page.

I'm going next weekend to look at them.
Thanks

Hey,
how's Creve Couer park? (I have 2 kids that are 2 & 4)

Creve Coeur Park is a nice suburban park for you and your kids. If you want close proximity to your work....try the different Maryland Heights apts...or Creve Coeur for places. Creve Coeur is just South of Maryland Heights on hwy 270.....it's main drag is Olive street from 270.

Again, look at different areas and see what you like...you won't have trouble finding apts.

Creve Coeur Park is a great place with a large lake, soccer fields, over 7 miles of walking trails, a golf course, ball fields, etc. It's one of the largest parks in the area. There are some better playgrounds at other small parks in the area, as there are many.

When you look at your map of apartments, I would stay in the area west of Hwy. 270, between Page Avenue on the South, Dorsett on the North and the park on the West. The reason I say this is not for safety reasons or bad areas, but because these are where the nicest apartments around there and I feel they are what would be in the price range.
