We are looking at Mason Elementary in Dogtown (63139). Anyone have experience with this school? Also, are there any pre-k programs in the area (not just preschool)?

I would suggest moving this question to the St. Louis forum. Most Missourians won't recognize the name Dogtown, which is a local neighborhood nickname in St. Louis.

Sorry I can't answer your specific question. I live in South St. Louis, about 5 minutes from Dogtown, but I don't know a lot about the public schools, as my children go to parochial school.

Prety much all the St. Louis Public Schools have a pre-k program. I highly recommend them to all city residents who think they might want to get their kid into a magnet.

County residents are not eligible to send their kids to the Pre-K program, and once you're in the magnet system, you get preferential treatment in staying in, so it makes sense as a city resident to get your kid into the magnet program as soon as possible when the fewest number of kids are in the lottery.

Start researching now for the next school year -- admission dates comes up more quickly than you'd realize.
