In some states, minors (well, I'm 19, but still) aren't even so much as allowed inside alcohol-serving establishments. In the state I grew up in as well as the state I'm currently in, however, minors are allowed inside but simply cannot drink. I don't know the Missouri law.

I'm going to Saint Louis Oct 5-10 and was hoping to hit up a sports bar to watch the game Oct 8th. Will I even be allowed inside to sip on some Pepsi and sit with the crowd?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but I'm not certain. You're best off going to a bar and grill type of place. You know, somewhere without a bouncer. Where in the area are you looking to be?

I'll be in south city for the most part--south of Arsenal, east of Kingshighway, north of Dover. I grew up in sports bars but I've got no issue with your suggestion, so I'll keep it in mind. As long as I can watch the game with a burger and fries and not have to sit in my hotel room, we're good. +rep.

**edit: now that I'm thinking about it, in April when I was in Kansas City I was invited to a local joint and had no problem doing exactly what I'm thinking now--sitting with some [new] friends, getting some grub, and watching the game. Granted, my ID was never checked (not even at the door) and there were no signs outside (unlike in states like Oklahoma) stating I was under no circumstances allowed inside. I guess now the question is, did I break the unstated law, and is there a STL city ordinance banning me from my plans?

Yes, I suggest Three Monkeys, The Royale, The Tin Can, or The Bleeding Deacon. All close to where you are staying.

Some bars that allow people of all ages place wrist bands on those patrons who are of drinking age. Clubs with live bands particularly tend to do this.

You will be fine in the vast majority of southside bars, but there's two things to keep in mind.

#1. Don't show up late (past 9 or 10) since that's when carding at the door usually starts.

#2. Go to places with a significant food menu so it's like you're just there to eat and hang out. All the places mentioned previously will work just fine.

Missouri and local law does allow underage people in bars, but, in practice, most bars restrict to 21 and up to avoid any problems with minors drinking on the premises (by having someone of age by alcohol for them).

Alright, no worries. As long as they tell me, "sorry, you're not allowed in," and not "you're not allowed in here, and we're calling the cops," (which we've basically established will not happen) it's all good.

Yah, no. That would never happen. Unless your reaction to him telling you no was to pee on his shoes
