Andre Agassi used crystal meth in 1997, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday, citing a publicist for the company publishing the tennis star's autobiography.
The admission in the book "Open" will appear in excerpts scheduled to appear in Sports Illustrated in People this month, the Daily News reported.
"Those excerpts contain revelations about Andre's use of crystal meth when he was a tennis player," said Paul Bogaards, director of media relations at Knopf, the newspaper reported.
“I’m seized by a desperate desire to clean. I go tearing around my house, cleaning it from top to bottom. I dust the furniture. I scour the tub. I make the beds.” This is a good thing. Is he trying to say only drugged people live in a clean house ~
Seriously though, Andre always seemed like a really good guy, that had his faults. It is no surprise to me that he is coming clean about what he has done in his past, and while I do not condone it, it is more honorable than denying it.
yeah, and he is one of the sport's greatest athletes.
He is a good guy...how many mistakes would we have made were we in his shoes and surrounded by hangers-on and synchophants? How well would any of us have withstood the pressure?
He made himself healthy again. #1 in the world. He and his wife have worked extremely hard to help others less fortunate than themsleves.
Agassi cleaned up his act and it didn't take him being "found out" to do it. That alone qualifies as a very positive action in my book.

I agree, I resepect anyone that's willing to admit their mistakes. When I first heard about this a few days ago I wasn't that surprised. Andre has admitted many times in recent years that he was "wild, stupid, an immature" back then as he put it in an interview I saw with him a year or two ago. I've always admired him as an athlete and more recently as a humanitarian so I'm just glad he stopped taking meth before it destroyed his career and his life.
The tennis organization had to have been skeptical about Agassi's excuse for the failed test when he told them his coach Slim spiked his soda with meth.
He is from Las Vegas, no wonder it was all show and fake
