There were several players that I wanted to see win - he wasn't one of them. He's got his jacket - I was hoping that history was going to be made w/ Spieth - I've seen Bubba miss a lot of cuts at tournaments, don't like his "act" - doesn't appeal to me. So it's a combination of things. Besides, don't like his Happy Gilmore swing.
I lived in Augusta twice and went to several Masters and practice rounds - it one of my favorite weeks of the year - this year it felt anticlimactic.
Looking forward to going to my first US Open in Pinehurst in June.
What you might find as "annoying" many people find as refreshing, and enjoyable...... so what if the guy is unorthodox on and off the golf course? He's a pretty incredible story... he learned the game himself and I still believe he doesn't use a swing coach. He can move the golf ball unlike any other golfer out there.
He's a family man... he's great with the fans, especially on social media... he loves the game, and he plays it his way. Obviously we all have opinions on certain golfers and I see nothing wrong with Bubba and good for him and congrats on green jacket #2.
So far this season zero missed cuts... and he has top 10's in 7 of the 9 events he entered with 2 victories. Your player of the year so far right here...
I'm happy Bubba won, but would have enjoyed if Speith won as well. The front 9 was great drama I thought for the final pairing, but the back nine was rather blah. Once Speith put it in the drink on 12 it was pretty much over.
Pulling for Speith the entire day. But that drive on the 13th by Bubba.... Geezus. Drive/56* wedge. Wow.
Same here. Kind of depressed at the end like I am after a Bucs' loss. Wanted Spieth to win. But the drive on 13 was probably the craziest drive I've ever seen, and I've been watching the game since the 80s when I took up the game. I like watching the replays and seeing Jonas Blixt on the 13th green looking back at the ball while his partner Bjorn is putting or looking at his putt.
Finally... Matt Kuchar after an incredible 4 weeks of golf got the victory this past weekend. Pretty astonishing when you break down the #'s.
The past 4 weeks he's finished 1st , 5th , 2nd , 4th which means only 9 golfers out of a total of 423 that he played against in the past month finished better than he did.
He came extremely close to having 3 of 4 victories but he couldn't hold onto final round leads at the Texas Open and the Houston Open. It continues a pretty big trend on tour this year though... I forget the exact numbers but I think nearly only a quarter of the final round leaders have held on to win. Most of the victories have been come from behind and this week that continued.
Another trend that continues.... USA and Aussies are dominating the winners circle. Nobody outside of those 2 countries has yet to win this season.
Big congrats goes out to the Most Interesting Golfer in the World Miguel Angel Jiminez for winning his Champions Tour Debut! Heck of a way to come back after an incredible 4th place performance at the Masters. I know Champions Tour stats don't count towards the Ryder Cup but he's made it a goal to make the European Squad this year. So far.... so good!
This week's event Zurich New Orleans was very anti-climatic. A lot of little known golfers. Nice win by Noh.
