Nadal was beaten by Murray on clay in Madrid. That has never happened before. What does it mean? Is Nadal getting worse, or is Murray getting better on clay?

It looks like the Rome Final is the repeat of the Madrid Final.

Most likely, although Kei is more of a danger to Novak.
Murray gets a qualifier though, so should be a cakewalk for him.

Madrid has different clay court conditions to the other Masters and RG, or even Barcelona (500), so not a real indication.
It is at altitude and plays faster, more like fast clay, than the brutal grind of Paris.
Nadal has not done as well at his home country Masters, compared to the others, for this reason.

Here's hoping for a 1 vs 2 Final at RG as well.

In the WTA, Serena Williams has taken out compatriot and rising star, Madison Keys:

Rome, the Italian Open to many old school like myself, has a great history as a Masters and Premier 5 for WTA.
With Serena trying to defend her RG title, and still chasing Steffi Graf, the stage has now been set for an epic French Open.
