For the 2nd consecutive week a big lead is blown. This time it was the Phoenix Open as Specer Levin blew an early seven stroke lead while shooting a 75 on the final day. Ironically it was Kyle Stanley who benefitted from Levin's collapse one week after he blew his own seven stroke lead early in the final round at Torey Pines capped off with an 8 on the final hole while clinging to a 4-stroke lead. Stanley's shot a 65 to win by a stroke and pocket about $1.1 Million a week after his collapse cost him about $350K.
This week Pebble Beach and Tiger's debut on a PGA event for 2012.
I'd say that it cost Stanley much more than 350K - at the time. That win would have given him his first PGA win, 2 year exemption, Masters invite...etc. All disappeared after he three-jacked the 18th with a 3 stroke lead. Which to me makes his win this past week that much more incredible.
Yeah, we watched his meltdown, and as soon as he went to the playoff with Snedecker, I knew he was in trouble. I was impressed he even managed to get to the second hole. I figured that would set him way back, to come back the next week to win is HIGHLY impressive.
