hey just curious what everyone's favorite charactors are from sports movies.

Even if the sport was a sub plot to the movie it still qualifies.

Here's a couple of my favorites to start

Brian Piccolo (actor James Caan) was terrific in Brian's song

and Tanner from the bad news bears was hilarious.

thoughts?

Joe Pesci in Raging Bull.

Joey LaMotta: I'm not gonna answer that. It's stupid. It's a sick question and you're a sick fuhk and I'm not that sick that I'm gonna answer it. I'm leaving, If Nora calls tell her I went home. You know what you should do? Do a little more fuhking and a little less eating, so you don't have to blame it all on me and everybody else, you understand me? You're cracking up! Ya' fuhking screw ball ya'!

It's funny. I'm not a sports fan at all. It's become too much of a religion. (Not to mention the salaries are enough to pay off the national debt!)

But, I do enjoy a good movie about sports if it's about an underdog who triumphs.

One of my favorite films of all times is a fantastic football film called Facing the Giants. Rudy is another one that I really enjoyed.

I liked Jimmy Dugan (Tom Hanks, Coach in a league of there own)

not just the no crying quote but the whoe scene (priceless)

YouTube - ‪no crying in baseball‬‏

and I liked the whole cast of "Hoosiers" especially Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper

I enjoyed A League of Their Own when it came out. If it came out today I wouldn't watch it because I developed a severe dislike of Tom Hanks and Rosie O'Donnell in recent years. Funny though, I still remember how much fun the film was.
