I am interested in relocating from Phoenix. I’m interested in a beautiful restored historic home. I’m a single female retiree. Besides the South Hill, are there other areas in Spokane I should focus on that are safe and beautiful?

A friend of mine moved into a cute historic home near Audubon park.

Here is one in that area as an idea

Corbin Park area, Audubon Park/Downriver areas, Browne's Addition are other areas with classic old homes.

Oh, I've been wanting to do that also! Every time I visit Spokane, I love to look at the craftsman-style bungalows. Not very many of those here in Phoenix.

What about South of the 90? Is this a safe/nice area as well? I've seen some cute little houses but unfamiliar with Spokane.

The farther south the better. Anything between about 14th to 29th is prime. Close to Manito Park is every local’s dream. Farther south than 29th is either mini-McMansions around Corbin Park, all the way to humbler but nice farther east in the Hamblen neighborhood, where I live. Trees everywhere.

99203 (prime south hill) and 99223 (farther south). 99202 for the South Perry district, which is the up-and-coming area for younger folks. More house for your money there, but some are fixer-uppers. Plenty of younger families. Your neighbors are likely to be hipsters and microbrew connoisseurs.
