Technology News: Space: Earth-Sized Planets May Be Everywhere - but How Many Are Earth-Like?

It appears that Earth-sized planets may be much more frequent in the neighborhood of our sun than previously thought.

This is exciting because if the Earth-sized planets are in the sweet spot, that dramatically increases the probability of life on that world. And that's just Earth-like life. Who knows what else is out there!

And, personally, this confirms what sci-fi authors have dreamed about for decades ... if 1/4 stars in our galaxy had earth-like planets, and 1/100 of those were in the sweet spot, and 1/100 of those could sustain life, there's literally be thousands of planets we could colonize and potentially run into other life forms.

Now getting there is another problem

One one hand , I have felt we are slowly piecing the puzzle together , detecting planets enmasse , and honing our skills. Eventually , this will culminate(in my lifetime) , photos of these places , and possibly surface features , and likely views of indigenous life. On the other hand , I feel we are given these tidbits of info in order to disinform us of a stranger reality. Only time will tell. Personally , I'd love to have a room strewn with photos of these planets , and moons.
