My family was invited to a bday party at Watiki last weekend. The invitation just said bday party for the kids (names left out here) on Sunday at 2pm. The father of the kids works for my hubby.
So my hubby and 2 kids go to the party, say they're there for the "name left out" birthday party. And Watiki charges my hubby and kids to get in! $45

I've never met them and had no desire to go, my kids have played with these kids twice before.

WTF! If you're going to have a bday party at a place that requires admission fees, wouldn't you PAY them for your guests or forwarn your guests on the invitation???

I can't believe my hubby didn't just turn around and leave! $45 to ATTEND a bday party.

Do you think that's tacky?

That's pretty tacky. I think you can plan to skip the party next year. Also, it is more than I would spend on a gift for some kid I barely know much less pay to get in the door.

They could have at least informed you that there would be an admission fee! That is definitely tacky. We're any other parents upset?

Yah, on top of that I spent $20 on each kids present! (since the dad works for my hubby, I couldn't go cheap on the gift. And since my hubby should be better off than him, my hubby didn't complain and just paid the fee.)

It is definitely tacky to not at least inform the guests of the fee, but to play Devil's Advocate, spending $45 for a fun Sunday afternoon isn't the end of the world and the kids probably had fun. You would have spent that much going to a movie or going to the mall and if it boosted your husband's relationship with his boss, it was probably worthwhile.

Default could be?

Could it have been a mistake? Maybe the employee who charged them didn't know the rules about being a guest at a b-day party? maybe you should call the water park and ask them what the rule is about b-day parties. Sometimes I know at different places where they do b-day parties there is a flat rate say for 10 guests then it's so much per head for guests beyond that--and the family settles the bill at the end of the party. Just a thought. I have never heard of anyone charging someone to come to their b-day party--I think it has to be a mistake. Hope it is and you get your money back!

Pam

I think that Ashnat's husband is the boss to the guy and not the other way around. Not that it really matters. It was just kind of strange no matter how you look at it.

BUT Pammy~you do have a good thought there. Could've it been a mistake???
