This posting is being made by Stacy and Cindy Noste...

Our hope is that someone out there has a connection to anyone in Mound City that may be interested in having our extensive collection of family history documents and artifacts.

The names Noste and Martinsen are well known in that small community. Our great-grandfather, Iver Noste, will be recognized as well as our uncle, Elmer Martinsen who was married to Hazel.

Our greatest hope is that the work done by our father, Nonan Noste, who dedicated over a decade of his life to collecting stories, documents and collecting items of interest can be shared with others interested in looking back in time.

Please feel free to contact me... with legitimate connections and interest...
Cindy (Noste) Langdon

Is there a museum in Campbell County that would benefit from the information you have?

Not that I have found. I am addressing a note to the names I found on the Internet. There are a few authors who have written about the area. The town only has 84 inhabitants! I am hoping some type of general delivery will place my note in someone's hands who can link me with a person who might be able to provide that type of information.

Thank you for your interest and reply. Doing this feels like a shot in the dark and we care very much about the notebooks our dad put so much time and love into.

Cindy

Cindy, maybe if we give it some time, someone who has info for you will eventually join the forum and be able to help you. It doesn't look like any of us who are here now know anything about it.

I grew up in Eureka, which is east of Mound City. Try calling the Court House in Mound City--someone may be able to help you (the Court House in Leola for McPherson County used to have historical displays--I don't know how the Campbell Co. one is set up); Alice Kundert is from Mound City and was a SD Legislator; she has donated quite a few things to the SD Historical Museum in Pierre (you may also want to contact them). Try googling Alice Kundert, Campbell County, South Dakota or Mound City, South Dakota--there are several websites that you may find some info on. I don't know if Mound City has a museum--it only has a few residents, 2 restaurants (great German food), and a bar. Good luck. I always enjoy seeing things from the past.
