The Buffalo have begun their calving season at Custer State Park. We saw 3 newborn calves in a herd near the end of Fisherman Flats RD. There was another large herd near the intersection of Swint Rd and Fisherman Flats, but we did not see any calves in that herd. There are also some scattered groups of Buffalo along Lame Johnnie Rd. They should be calving over the next few weeks. Wind Cave Buffalo usually start a couple of weeks after the Custer herd.
