You need to post your specific questions in the
Greenville-Spartanburg sub-forum.
In general, SC has an "ad-valorem" tax (personal property tax) - I absolutely hate this and this is one of the worst aspects of living in SC (besides having a state income tax LOL) - if you have a new and/or expensive automobile, prepare to pay hundreds of dollars per year for the privilege of driving on our dilapidated road system (the older the car, the less tax one needs to pay per year). Additionally, there are no vehicle inspections in SC. So, with these two points noted, you will witness numerous junkers and unsafe cars in SC.
On the other hand, SC does not tax groceries - and, property taxes are generally low (unless you choose to live in the city of Greenville - higher taxes - but, with it, comes a much better quality of life). The Upstate is famous (infamous?) for having the lowest gas prices
in the country - of course, one only needs to see the crumbling state of I-85 thru SC to necessitate the need to increase this tax.
