Nice win by the Seattle Sounders over the Tigres tonight, 3-0, in the Leagues Cup play. Sounders defense looks solid again. The Tigres had some good opportunities, but couldn't put it away.
Probably being in early season form had something to do with it. Sounders are at mid season and are getting first line players back from injury. Lodeiro played for about 10 minutes and put away quite a goal from 30 yards out. Wow.
Gonzalo Pineda, former Seattle Sounders FC assistant, is now the head coach of Atlanta FC. He did a great job with the Sounders. I wish him success in his new job... but not too much success.
Following a 13-year playing career, Pineda has been an assistant coach with Seattle Sounders FC since 2017. Rob Valentino (assistant) and Liam Curran (goalkeeping) will stay on staff, while Pineda will bring on Diego de la Torre, who recently served as head coach at Cafetaleros de Chiapas in Mexico. Pineda will be formally introduced to media during a press conference at 1:00 p.m. today and is scheduled to join the team in Atlanta next week with his first training session Thursday. Valentino will continue to serve as interim coach for the club’s next two games.
