Hi,

We are looking to retire in the Shreveport/Bossier City area. We are looking there because it is affordable. However, we are very concerned because of all the negative postings from other people.
1) Is the area really that bad when it comes to crime?
2) Are there areas to avoid?
3) Can someone rent a two bedroom apartment in a good area for $650 a month?
4) We currently live in a low-income area of Sacramento, CA which is predominantly African-American. We have encountered direct prejudice from our neighbors since we are white. We are hoping to avoid this problem in the Shreveport/Bossier City area.

Could someone point out what areas to avoid because of crime? We are just looking for a safe, quiet neighborhood where we can live our lives.

Thanks,

DC

With regards to the crime situation as long as you avoid the rough parts of the city you should be ok. This was one of our concerns when we moved here from the UK but it hasn't really been a problem. I just see it on the news!

Try and stay Southeast of the city you will be close to all the amenities so you can save on gas (not that people generally care about that)

I have lived here for almost a year and I have really been pleasantly surprised. I would recommend Shreveport over Bossier, personally.
