Hi,
I need help finding a good daycare and a good preschool for my two children. We are from Germany and we will move to Shreveport/Bossier next year because of my husbands work. Our children will be 2 and 4 by then. We don't know yet in which area we will live but I've read that the SE of Shreveport and the N or the S of Bossier are nice areas to live at. The only thing I can say so far is that a class b daycare is out of the question. I've read that spanking is allowed in a class b daycare and although I would never allow my children to be spanked, I don't want them to see any other children getting spanked either.
Thank you for your help
(and I hope I didn't made too many spelling errors and the grammar wasn't too bad )

Your English grammar is fine. South Bossier would be an excellent choice as it has good neighborhoods and is fairly close drive across the Red River to Bentler factory if that is where your husband will be working. But on the downside, the Jimmie Davis Bridge that spans the Red River will be closed for one year beginning in Jan 2015. So you may want to consider SE Shreveport or the neighborhoods along Ellerbe Road in Shreveport.

While N. Bossier is newer and developing... it will be a long drive to the Bentler plant in South Shreveport.

I can't help you with daycare... sorry!

Shreveport has close to 200k people, it has many different communities with a wide mixture of how those communities function and how they are maintained.
I won't push a point to place Bossier ahead of Shreveport, because they are very different in population stats. Many communities have variables of income levels which impacts many things within what is a community.

I'd say, come - rent for 6 months, and see what appeals to you. But before coming, contact the Caddo and or Bossier School districts and ask for information.
But you can also utilize the web, Google Earth and various other tools to get a perspective about city and communities within them.

It takes a lot to make up what is a community, including the things you like as well as those you aspire to want access unto.

Both are "Southern Cities", with heavy religious overtone and a wide variety of congregations. You can look at the City Calendars of both cities, and look at their cultural event programming.

Hope your research provides you suitable info to make an informed choice in how you establish yourself through your transistion.

Okay I can help with daycares, since I work in one so I know the ins and out of them.

I am quite sure that you can't use physical punishment at any daycare no matter what class it may be. If it was allowed then you would have to sign something to give them permission, but I am quite sure, with how strict the rules are with the state that none of the daycares use any type of physical punishment. I mean we can barely give out timeouts! lol

With Class B daycares, the rules and regulations aren't as strict with student teacher ratio, having qualified care givers, and a few other details. I still recommend trying to find a Class A with at least 3 stars because I think with 3 stars, there first of all a lot more teachers there that are qualified with their CDA and you can get a tax credit.

There are many nice day cares and preschools in the area.

Southfield
St. Joseph's Catholic
Broadmoor Baptist
Broadmoor Methodist

Those are ones I am familiar with and would highly recommend.
