I have been reading all the posts on different forums but I keep coming back to Seattle. Something about this city has always intrigued me and finally I have applied for a job at the VA hospital. I would like some advice on where to live when I get my transfer (positive thinking here).
I am an RN with the Veterans Administration and would be relocating alone for now and would like to live in the city without a car, YEAH!!!!
All comments are welcome but please try not to rain too much on my parade...no pun intended

The VA Hospital is located on Beacon Hill (lower Right hand section), south east of downtown. But it's an easy commute from several areas by bus. West Seattle (West towards the water), Broadway (Due north to Capitol Hill)

I'm an Army brat (Baby Boomer) and have lived around the US and Germany (a while back), so I've lived in cold weather before. PR isn't cheap either by any means so that's not gonna scare me off either. Just wondering about local rents in the city and quality of life.
PR is looking less and less like "Isla del Paraiso". Paradise Island.

I would like to live downtown, but would it be a logical commute? Looking at this map it seems far. Am I right?

No, downtown Seattle is a pretty quick bus ride or drive to the VA hospital. Too far to walk, maybe, but not far.

No it's not far. Traffic can influence the time of course, but it's only 10 or 15 minutes max. A single bus ride most likely. Especially if you live near the right bus line.

It's King County Metro's bus route 39. A single, 20 minute bus ride from 4th and Union to the VA.
