I'm from NC, and with the huge furniture industry you could always find stores that had samples and things super cheap. Any stores like that around here? Ikea I have issues with, some things are really great there, some not. They can't seem to do the big comfy couch right, for one thing. So disregarding Ikea, anyone know any good cheap stores? I've got a van so I can travel a bit...

When I was shopping for a bed and family room furniture, I went to the Costco Home Store and was very disappointed. I did find a few things I liked a little bit, but they were out of stock. I ended up getting my bed headboard from Sleep Country and my loveseat and big chair from Macy's on sale. Give Costco a try but don't expect much.

ashley's furniture is okay and not expensive. it's north in burlington-ish area, so it might be a bit of a drive.

too bad you missed levitz. they were the only other store i have seen in the seattle area that is warehouse size.

I've never shopped there and don't know if they're good, but Mor Furniture for Less is said to be cheap, at least. The store seems pretty big, at least from the road. It's in Kent, but basically across the street from Ikea, which is in Renton.

Underhills in Lynnwood has a very big selection and reasonable prices -- a few cheapie looking things, but some good stuff too.

I was checking out Macy's furniture today (note not all Macys display furniture--downtown Seattle does on fifth floor) and found a lot of good prices/sales, and they say most stuff delivers in a week's time.

Bassett would be next leve up from Macy's. They have some good but overprices stuff (wait to get it 2-3 years after they've started showing it for 40% discounts). They can also custom make a lot of dining room and living room stuff with a 30 day turnaround, lots of choices.

More upscale is Greenbaums in Bellevue, even more upscale is Masins in Bellevue (and Seattle), and my "when i win the lottery" store would be McKinnon Furniture in Seattle.

Can you tell I'm shopping for furniture myself lately?....

You know who has decent cheap furniture? Target.

Also I heard the Kasala Outlet in Pioneer Square is supposed to be awesome.

I wouldn't name it... "cheap" but neither I would consider it "expensive" given the quality of its furnitures. Try here:
this site: Traditional Persian & Oriental Rugs Store in Toronto & New Jersey. Though they are not a store, they are reliable and have nice furniture. Personalyspeaking whenever I bought something from them, I never had any complains.
All the luck

The Old Cannery in Sumner has the best prices and selection on furniture around. I think it is worth the drive. Also, Moe's is pretty cool if you like modern/Asian design.
