We have a possiblity of relocating to this area. My husband would be at Ft. Lewis and I would be working in Seattle. We have a dog, a cat and a 5 year old, so school are important to us. What are some areas we should consider? We like suburban but close access to urban.

You should definitely consider moving to a city close to the middle between Seattle and FT. Lewis for shorter commute times for both of you. That would probably be in the Kent, Renton, Tukwila, and Des Moines area - maybe even Federal Way, but it is closer to FT. Lewis than Seattle. These cities are located on or close to the I-5 corridor and they all have neighborhoods with a suburban feel but are close to everything. Schools are good in Renton and Kent.

Good luck on your move.

How about the part of Renton that's in the Maple Valley ( Tahoma) school district?
About equidistant to Ft. Lewis or Seattle, great school district, rural and pretty, but not far from urban amenities.
