I was trying to find out if there is public transit from Mukilteo to anywhere downtown Seattle. It looks like if you want to go before 7:30 am weekdays you can use the sounder train with no transfers to king street station.

For an express bus - If you want to leave about 11 am there is not an express-no transfer bus option. Looks like you can transfer in Lynnwood, or travel to everett if you want no transfers. Am I missing something? I was hoping for a direct no transfer option around 11:00 am weekday.

Also I don't see anything from Mukilteo for the sounder on weekends?

The Sounder only runs on the weekdays as its purpose primarily is intended for work commuters.

The way the bus systems are set up is that certain areas are hubs (think like a center of a wheel) and transit will branch out from those hubs. Mukilteo is NOT one of those hubs, and in a time when all bus agencies are having difficulty hiring bus divers due to the extremely low unemployment rate, it appears unlikely that this will change.

I have a friend who lived in Lynnwood and took a direct bus to downtown Seattle during the weekdays; something like this is probably your best bet.

Thanks for the explanation amaiunmei.

I was thinking with a sounder station in Mukilteo it have a more frequent schedule at many times in the day. I really would just like something convenient for Dr. appts and entertainment downtown without having to drive. But I guess it's not to that point, or that is not the goal.

I will check out the Lynnwood option for bus frequency

Yeah, at 11am, looks like CT 113 to Lynnwood, then ST 512 to Downtown Seattle. 104 minutes. Demand at that time (mid-day) doesn't justify a direct express bus.

You may want to try the Ash Way Park & Ride; if you can get someone to drop you off there, you would only have to take that one bus into downtown Seattle and back.

Thanks
Ash way looks great heading to Seattle anytime after 9:00 am, about every 10 minutes. But coming back to ash way you need to board downtown by 2:30, or wait till 7 pm

Sounder North afternoon return trips to Mukilteo: 4:05, 4:33, 5:05, 5:35, 7:00 (Amtrak 518)

Amtrak 517, 518, 519:

Quote:
Rail Plus Trains 516, 517, 518, 519 are run by Amtrak and only serve Seattle, Edmonds and Everett stations. Amtrak does not accept Day Passes and single-trip Sounder tickets. You must have an ORCA card loaded with a monthly pass to ride these trains. You must get a Rail Plus validation ticket from the ticket vending machine before boarding. Amtrak schedules are subject to change.

Sound Transit 511/512 goes to ash way until almost midnight. In the morning 511 starts way earlier than 9 am.

It looks like the reason why there is that hole in service is because of the Sound Transit Routes 511/513, which specifically serves Ash Way P&R:

512 runs outside of rush hour. 511 runs during rush hour.
