Leave the car at the airport for the duration, and take the train in.

It will be hard to avoid hipsters, but you will find most of the weirdos around 4th & Pine, near Westlake Park and in Pioneer Square, around 2nd & Yesler. It's part of the Seattle experience though, embrace it. If you like seafood, eat at one of the best, Palisade at Smith Cove, Anthony's Pier 66, or Ray's Boathouse in Ballard. What else to do depends on what you are interested in. The typical tourist attractions include Pike Place Market, the Fremont Troll, Space Needle, Ballard Locks, Museum of Flight, and Experience Music Project. If you get to the eastside, Snoqualmie Falls, wineries in Woodinville.

Do whatever you want, but make sure you leave without intending to move here.. it's getting kinda full 'round these parts.

My feelings exactly ... you are here when our weather is at it's best ... just remember it pours rain the other 51 weeks of the year.

Hop on a ferry to Bainbridge Island. You can even just take it round trip, great to be on the water. See the Troll in Fremont, in fact wander around Fremont. Go to the Chittenden Ballard Locks and go underground to see the salmon coming up the ladder. Don't miss the EMP (Experience Music Project) at Seattle Center and all the great Jimi Hendrix info and guitars. In fact, go see Jimi's grave in Seattle, and Bruce Lee's too. Go to the Wing Luke Asian American Museum in the International District and have some hole in the wall dim sum after. Go to the Japanese Garden in the Arboretum, created by a Japanese garden master and on elf only a few authentic ones in the states. Wander Pike Place Market. Go downstairs and across the street from the main market for a more "local" feel. Great street musicians at the market too. Have a great trip, that is a nice time of year to visit.

Take a ferry ride for sure, from downtown you can walk on and get some great pictures, as for the rest it depends on what you want. If I was coming from southern CA, I would head up to the mountains to experience some snow, always check with wsdot for pass conditions.

Let us know what interests you and don't forget your passport.

I third a ferry ride. So much fun and the weather should be nice. We always take visitors from out of town on a ferry ride and they always rave about it.

Not sure why I typed "elf" in my post, keyboard hijacked by holiday spirits. I meant "one of only a few"....
