I have been living in Seattle ever since I moved from Chicago. Chicago as most of you already know is filled with organized crime and independent crime. I'm interested in finding out if there's any sort of known organized crime groups in Seattle.

I hope not, but it is a major city.

The Seattle Police and the Port Police have gang units, but the gangs are mostly invisible to the public. There are about a dozen active gangs in Seattle, but their "work" is limited to tagging, drugs, theft and prostitution. Nothing like the violent gang wars in some other cities.

From time to time, you will encounter roving gangs of pirates, zombies and people dressed like Vikings. Have a few local microbrews, it will help it all make sense.

Asking the question several times on different threads will certainly gain many more highly insightful answers.

If one must ask where "organized crime" is, there certainly isn't any business being near them.

No one with anything to do with so-called "organized crime" would admit to its existence, nevermind any specific affiliation or brotherhood.

Reminds me of the thread where some genius asked how to "join the Hell's Angels". Answer I provided, seems to apply here as-well:

“… Pop into the local clubhouse, ask for an application , and pick up a bike from the lot on the way out."

City Council has done all the organization for the criminals and now hosts heroine clubs for junkies to happily shoot up with no concern for the law. One would think permitting "safe use" sites would virtually legalize heroine... and that's correct, it does.

What are the thoughts on the level of gang-related violence in Portland? I have a close friend who says "the gangs are coming up from LA through Portland and Tacoma to Seattle. Is this substantially true?
