May I ask if you shop online or you shop at small independent businesses?

To all the people that use public transportation or walk,

Which places on this last are easily accessible by bus or the monorail? If you need a location to reference, I am thinking about moving to a nearby neighborhood in Bellevue.

Crossroads mall is my favorite indoor mall. It's so unique with people playing board games, musical events, and fun rides for the kids. The diversity of people found at this mall can't be beat. Also, the restaurants feature food from all over the world and there's no McDonald's.

Coincidentally, the best croissants in the Puget Sound are also right there at Crossroads Mall at The French Bakery - Perfect!

I don't know about the best, and they don't always have croissants, but the Flour, Sugar, and More Bakery in the Renton Highlands is very good and very addictive. It's a primarily French and Mexican bakery with some traditional Italian and Jewish baked goods too. It's in a primarily Asian strip mall behind the Viet Wah Supermarket. I like going to shop in areas like this. A lot of malls are just soulless and full of chain stores. They could be anywhere. I don't hate it going into Bellevue Square. There are just a lot of other places I'd prefer to be.

Maybe it's just me, but the parking at Bellevue Square makes me a little crazy. If it's crowded, it takes too long to find a parking space and it's frustrating just standing still in a line of cars. I don't have this parking issue at Crossroads or at strip malls.

Parking at UVillage on a weekend is tough as well.

Another couple of malls that are pleasant to hang out in are Crossroads in Bellevue, as previously mentioned, and Lake Forest Park's Town Center. They're both developed by Ron Sher, who runs things a little differently than most mall managers. He's into books. He's the founder of Third Place Books, and he wants to create places that people want to hang out in. That's why he built the stage at Crossroads Mall, and the giant chessboard there and in Lake Forest Park, and he encourages interesting independent eateries instead of a regular food court. He just purchased the PCC store in Seward Park, and will be opening another Third Place Books, a cafe, and maybe a pub.

You think Factoria is better than Southcenter? Wow.

The outdoor discount mall next to the Tulalip Casino makes a nice outing -- good collection of stores.

The Bellevue and Downtown shopping areas are going to be your best bet. The Bellevue Transit Center is a block away from Lincoln Square/Bellevue Collection, and there are so many buses that go through DT that you'd have many options.

Also, the monorail only runs from the Seattle Center to Westlake Center. You may also be thinking about the Light Rail.
